FEATURE REQUEST: Encryption Desktop: The Encrypt button should be grayed out if the policy doesn't allow encryption
Last Updated July 12, 2019
Symantec Encryption Management Server (SEMS) / Symantec Encryption Desktop (SED)
SEMS/SED Version Tested: 3.4/10.4 SEMS/SED Version Affected: All
Feature Request: In the SEMS console, Consumer Policies> Consumer Policy Option>Symantec Encryption Desktop>Drive Encryption, under "Symantec Drive Encryption>User-initiated Drive Encryption Permissions" remove the check mark in "Allow Encryption" under "Internal Disks". Once that is done and the agent receives the policy the user is still able to click the "Encrypt" button in the Agent UI under Drive Encryption. Then after about 30 to 45 seconds the user receives a dialog box that says "not allows by administrator".
We are requesting that when the option to allow user initiated drive encryption for internal disks is NOT selected in the policy then the Encrypt button on the Agent UI should be grayed out.
A Feature Request has been submitted for “graying out the Encrypt button in the SED Agent UI when the policy does not allow user initiated encryption of the disk”.
