Security comparison between Mobile Device Management and Endpoint Protection Mobile
Last Updated January 19, 2018
You are using a corporate MDM that is deployed on your mobile device, and want to know if it is a sufficient security solution when compared to Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile (SEP Mobile).
MDM, i.e. Mobile Device Management, is a great tool for IT to manage mobile devices (configuration, deployments, etc.), while SEP Mobile is designed for security purposes (Network Security, Malicious profiles and apps, Application Security & Privacy, etc.). Security is our core DNA, and this is where we concentrate all our efforts.
SEP Mobile management console provides visibility to all security threats, together with “general” information provided by MDM solutions, such as device and user lists, their status, compliance, performing remediation actions (such as remote wipe), installation of specific configuration profiles, and more.
There is some overlap between the basic management capabilities of MDM & SEP Mobile. However, Symantec is firmly focused on features that bring security value to our customers. This is not a focus for MDM solutions.
SEP Mobile also integrates with many leading MDM solutions such as AirWatch.
