This FAQ describes features and functionality for VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.4, which is the version of VIP Enterprise Gateway that is currently available. This FAQ is provided to help you estimate and plan for an upgrade to VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9. Symantec expects that the process will be very similar to the upgrade process described here.
When VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.9 is available, updated product documentation describing the features and the installation and upgrade process will be included.
How can I upgrade to the latest version of VIP Enterprise Gateway?
You can update to the latest version of VIP Enterprise Gateway in one of the following ways:
Note: If your installation directory is not on the root drive, you may experience issues downloading files with LiveUpdate.
If you are on VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.x, you can run the upgrade package on your existing instance. We recommend that you export your configuration settings and have a copy of your SSL certificates, CA certificates, and VIP Certificate available.
If you are on an older version of Enterprise Gateway, you must upgrade to 9.8.x before you can upgrade to the latest version of VIP Enterprise Gateway. Complete the following steps to migrate to the latest version:
Note: You can also use these procedures to upgrade to the latest version of VIP Enterprise Gateway if you are on version 9.7 or 9.8.x.
Import your VIP Enterprise Gateway configuration to your VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.x instance. See the online help for details: Importing configuration settings. Note: Make sure that your exported environment matches the environment of the VIP Enterprise Gateway 9.8.x that you installed. For example, a Linux configuration cannot be imported to a Windows environment.
