When you attempt to edit the Administrator Properties while logged on to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) console as an administrator or limited administrator, an "Unexpected console error [0x80010000]" appears. this prevents you from making any changes to the logged in account.
The following screenshot shows the console error:
This particular problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Maintenance Release 4 Maintenance Patch 1 (SEP 11 MR4 MP1). Upgrade to the latest available release of SEP to take advantage of this fix and many other enhancements and improvements.
Should it not be possible to immediately upgrade, there are a number of possible workarounds available:
Workaround #1: Restart the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Service:
Click >Start >Run and type services.msc into the Open field.
Right-click the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service, click Restart and then click OK.
Workaround #2: In the Clients view, under the Clients tab, click the Save column order button (near the upper-right corner).
Workaround #3: The error only appears when trying to edit the properties of the logged in user. As such, it is feasible to log in with an alternate Administrative account and make the necessary changes to the desired account..
Workaround #4: 1. Click on the "My Company" group > Policies tab 2. Change the Centralized Exception policy to a non-shared policy. (Click the policy, select "Create Non-Shared Policy From Copy"). 3. Once this has taken effect, revert this change by replacing the policy with the previous shared policy. 4. You should no be able to check or uncheck the "Inherit from..." box.
If the issue is happening further down the tree, try applying this workaround procedure to the group's parent ( and/or parent's parent, etc).
