You would like to use wildcards or variables to define exceptions in Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP).
SEP provides predefined variables called prefix variables for file and folder exceptions. These variables allow you to make exceptions without typing the full path.
Name of Prefix Variable
The folders for components that are shared across applications:
The Windows System folder:
The file system folder that contains the folders for the common program groups that appear on the Start menu for users:
The file system folder that contains documents that are common to all users:
The Program Files folder, includes:
The file system folder that contains files and folders that appear on the desktop for all users:
The Windows folder or SYSROOT. This corresponds to the %windir% or %SYSTEMROOT% environmental variables:
The file system folder containing application data for all users:
The file system folder that contains all the programs that appear in the Startup folder for all users:
File system folders that correspond to all the users. New in 14.0:
The SYSTEM_DRIVE variable indicates the location where the Windows operating system is installed. New in 14.0:
Note: When using all Pre-fix variables, except SYSTEM_DRIVE, you will need to include the leading '\' in your path.
