For this particular issue; it appears the Default Software Update Agent Configuration Policy was changed. However, the Software Update Agent on the Client is unable to Update Configuration / Send Basic Inventory and receive the updated policy.
The client continues to run on the old Configuration Policy that it holds in the ClientPolicy.xml file until the Altiris Agent successfully runs Updates Configuration.
Ensure the Network is allowing for communications between the Notification Server and the Clients.
Could be Switches, Routers, or anything in the network that may fail and cause communications to go down.
Updating Configuration and Send Basic Inventory resolves this issue and allows for the current Default Software Update Agent Configuration Policy to be received by the Software Update Agent. Then the Software Update Cycle can execute when it is currently scheduled.
As well as the InventoryRuleCache.iad. or ibd, file will be able to update and run a scan of what is applicable and is installed on the client. Returning the data and processing to the database to correct the reporting.
