What does the Patch Management check for Reboot is needed, and does this apply to manually installed updates?
Last Updated November 08, 2017
What does the Patch Management Software Update Plug-in check to see if a reboot is required
Patch Management Solution 7.5.x, 7.6.x and 8.x
The check for this is found on the Client at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Patch Management - 'RebootRequired' with a value of (1):
If the value is (0) then no reboot is required.
This registry key will not be populated for manually installed updates. The reg key is only created when the Patch Management Solution installs an update that requires a reboot.
This registry key is not displayed until an update requiring a reboot is applied. Then the registry key is created. The Reboot Schedule will reboot the machine with a command for Windows to reboot on the scheduled time.
This registry key is removed from the Client's registry following a reboot by the Software Update Plug-in.
