"Invalid username or password" when attempting to connect to a pcAnywhere host
Last Updated October 25, 2010
You are attempting to connect to a pcAnywhere host and get the error "Invalid Username or Password"
There are multiple possible causes:
The username and or password is not correct.
The NS administrator added this account to the settings policy but the client machine has not been updated yet.
You are trying to connect to a pcAnywhere solution host from a pcAnywhere remote.
Check the following:
--The username and or password is not correct - Contact your NS administrator and ensure you are a user in the settings policy.
--The NS administrator added this account to the settings policy but the client machine has not been updated yet - Open the Symantec Management Agent Settings and click Update. Wait a few moments for all new policies to download. Ensure this has been done at the host machine as well.
--You are trying to connect to a pcAnywhere solution host from a pcAnywhere remote - Only connecting via the Notification Server or pcAnywhere Solution agents (part of the Client Management Suite) can connect to other pcAnywhere Solution Agents. If you have the box or corporate product of pcAnywhere (including the installs available for NS6) you are not able to connect to pcA Solution Agents. You will need to install the Symantec Mangagment agent and the pcAnywhere plugin.
NS7 with pcAnywhere 12.5.x
