How to move the SEE-MS SQL database from one server to another
Last Updated April 18, 2019
You would like to move the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Management Server (SEE-MS) database from one MS SQL server or instance to another. This document covers both the current 11.x versions as well as the legacy (8.x and below) versions of SEE.
Backup the existing SEE database using the MS SQL backup process
On the new MS SQL server make sure to include all the same users and permissions from the original server
Restore the database on the new MS SQL server using the MS SQL database restore process
On the SEE Management Server, run the SEE-MS Configuration Manager
Change the database server name to the new server\instance and port with the appropriate login and password.
Update all systems that are running the SEE-MS console with the new DB server\instance. This can be done one of two ways:
Reinstall the SEE Management Console and enter the new MS SQL server\instance
For Version 11.x Navigate to the SQLServer registry key: HKLM\Software\Encryption Anywhere\Management Console\Framework
Modify the SQLServer key to reflect the new Server/Instance
For Version 8.x and below Navigate to the DBServer registry key: HKLM\Software\Encryption Anywhere\Management Console\Framework
Modify the DBServer key to reflect the new Server/Instance
