You need to revert your Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.x installation to an earlier build, and you would like to know how to prevent the Symantec Protection Center (SPC) from automatically upgrading the client again.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (SEP SBE) automatically upgrades all clients to the latest client package. Since administrators may want to have earlier client packages on their clients at times, builds of SEP SBE beginning with Release Update 1 (RU1) include a method for disabling the auto-upgrade feature and reverting client packages.
Process for reverting clients to an earlier package
Disable the auto-upgrade feature for the clients that you want to revert.
Manually uninstall the client package from the clients that you want to revert, and restart the computers.
Run the Client Installation Wizard to install the replacement client package.
To disable the auto-upgrade feature for clients
In the console, click Computers.
On the Computers page, under My Company, select the group that includes the clients that you want to revert.
In the Tasks list, click Edit the group properties.
In the Group Properties for [your group name] dialog box, click Disable Automatic Client Package Updates. At a future time you can clear this option to turn on automatic updates. When you turn on this option, all clients in the group are automatically updated to the latest package.
To run the Client Installation Wizard with auto-upgrade disabled
Follow the instructions in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition Implementation Guide, or in the Client Installation Wizard. When you install with auto-upgrade disabled, there is one difference. The second step in the Wizard prompts you for the name of the package that you want to deploy. The panel displays the names of packages that are available.
Choose a package, and then click Next.
Complete the Wizard, and then click OK.
There is no provision to add client install packages to the SPC. If you do not see the correct build's package in the second step as noted above, it is recommended to install as unmanaged from the older build's installation media, then drop a sylink.xml on the client from the group in which you previously disabled automatic upgrade.
