Symantec Endpoint Protection and Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 are causing BSODs.
Symptoms Getting BSODs when Symantec Endpoint Protection and Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server are installed on the same server-Windows Server 2008 R2.
In order to resolve the issue , Please try the steps given below:
1) Create a new Group for such servers where you will be running SEP and CPS.
2) Create a new the Antivirus and Antispyware Policy and change the following File System Auto-Protect setting in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager(Policies Tab >> The new Antivirus & AntiSpyware Policy >> Right Click >> Edit >> File System Auto-Protect >> Advanced Scanning and Monitoring):
Change "Scan when a file is accessed or modified" to "Scan when a file is modified" Uncheck "Scan when a file is backed up" And assign this policy to the new Group.
3) (If Firewall is used/installed)Create a new Firewall Policy and Exclude the following processes from within Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (Firewall Policy >> Rules >> Add a rule to allow an application): (Change C:\ as needed depending on which root volume the Continuous Protection Server (CPS) or Continuous Management Server (CMS) or Continuous Protection Agent (CPA) is installed to)
