Performing the same operations using the local console works just fine. You have no other problems with managing SMSMSE remotely.

Cause

Execution time required by the SMSMSE console connecting with the remote SMSMSE server is exceeding the currently set ASP.NET request execution timeout value. By default, this value is set to 110 seconds, This may occur for example: when trying to download the logs from a remote SMSMSE server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue modify ASP.Net timeout setting.

How to Modify the ASP.NET request execution timeout setting on Windows Server 2003

1. On the machine where SMSMSE server is installed, start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Expand Web Sites, right click the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Web site, and then click Properties.

3. On the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Web site properties page, click ASP.NET, and then click Edit Configuration.

4. Click the Application tab, and then in the Request execution timeout box increase the number of seconds (default is 110).
