All managed Clients show offline for all System Administrators and Limited Administrators when logged into the manager
Last Updated July 11, 2011
When logged into the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) all managed clients show offline. In Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU6 a new option was introduced "Change Clients View". The "Online Status" is a global toggle for administrators. You can not restrict a limited admin from controlling this option. When any administrator (limited or full) un-checks the box for "Online Status" all clients will appear offline by any administrator that logs into the manager.
When a SEPM System Administrator account logs into the SEPM and clicks on Clients, Clicks Change Clients View, and un checks the box for Online Status, all clients show as being offline for admins including limited administrators.
"Online Status" checkbox is unchecked in SEPM, Clients, Change Clients View which affects all administrators as the option is global and is not limited to each individual administrator
This issue has been fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Release Update 7 (RU7). For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read TECH 103088: Obtaining an upgrade or update for Symantec Endpoint Protection or Symantec Network Access Control. The previous design has changed. The views are no longer global (for all administrators). The views are now per-administrator. Each administrator is able to choose their own view and it is retained. Other administrators are no longer able to change the view for another administrator.
