Why do I receive the Rdeploy error
'Invalid image file or file not found' when I try to deploy an image from a location other than the DS express share?
There are many possible causes for this error and you should initially ensure that the image file and it's location are correct.
To resolve this issue try the following steps in order:
1) Escape from the PXE boot process after the drives have been mapped
2) Change to the drive that you have mapped that has the image on
3) Ensure the image file is available using the DIR command
Note! It is best to share the folder that contains the image rather than a folder further up, i.e if the image is stored in '\\myserver\myshare\images\myimage.img', share images directly rather that sharing 'myshare' and directing the image to 'images\myimage.img'
4) Assuming the image is available run RDeployT manually to see if imaging starts. If it does then try either of the following:
Make sure the drive that contains your image is mapped in the configuration tool located at Start>All Programs>Altiris>Deployment Server>Configuration. Look for options and then drive mappings and map the drive identically to that mapped within PXE.
Alternatively it may be possible to choose 'Local image store' in the Distribute Disk Image task to resolve this issue. (NOTE: On Windows 2000 servers, it is possible that a Microsoft patch created access and/or visibility changes which will cause DOS Automation configurations to fail. Enabling the 'Local image store' option will allow DOS Automation to find the image location correctly again.)
