Issue/Introduction

Access to a web site is being blocked due to an apparent threat that has been identified.

SWG displays the blocking page where there is a link to Norton Safe Web providing more information about the site being blocked.

Norton Safe Web shows a bad reputation for the web site that has been blocked.

You suspect that this is a false positive identification and wish to have the assessment reviewed.

Cause

The Norton Safeweb database, accessible on safeweb.norton.com, is used by the SWG to manage access to potentially compromised web sites. Any sites that appear as a potential threat in this database will be blocked from user access by the Web Gateway. This database is regularily updated on the device as part of the database version updates every few days.

Resolution

A review can be requested from the Safe Web False Positve reporting page at https://symsubmit.symantec.com

To workaround this issue, whitelist the IP address.
