This article describes how to remove the PGP Plug-in for PGP Desktop 8.x from Outlook.
When PGP is installed, a PGP Plug-in is added to your Outlook Toolbar. This plug-in allows the convenience of clicking on an Outlook Toolbar button to encrypt, decrypt and sign your emails. If you so desire, you can remove the PGP Plug-in after PGP has been installed by following the instructions below.
Remove the PGP Plug-in through the PGP Desktop installer
The preferred method of removing this plug-in is by use of the PGP installer file (i.e. pgp8.exe or pgpdesktop.exe). This will allow you to leave Outlook unchecked when asked to install the plug-ins for the different email applications. Leaving the Outlook box open will remove the plug-in once the installation is completed.
Disable the PGP Plug-in in Outlook
If you wish to leave the plugin installed, but disabled, follow these steps:
Click the Tools menu from the Outlook Toolbar.
Click the Options menu item.
Click the Other tab.
Click the Advanced Options button.
Click the Add-In Manager button.
Remove the check from the box which corresponds to the PGP Plug-in.
Click OK to apply the change and close each open box.
Open Outlook and the PGP Plug-in will be gone.
