After installing PGP Desktop, Email messages sent by Lotus Notes are not encrypted or an error message is displayed by Lotus Notes. The error messages displayed by Lotus Notes may include:
Operation stopped at your request: mail.box
Operation stopped by user: mail.box
This article will describe some of the possible causes and provide resolutions when unable to proxy Email using PGP Desktop.
In order for PGP Desktop to proxy Email, two entries will be added to the notes.ini file in the user profile when PGP Desktop is installed. In some instances, the PGP entries in the notes.ini are not added to the correct notes.ini. This may occur if PGP modifies the wrong notes.ini file or is unable to find the notes.ini file. This may occur when the notes.ini file may located on a network drive.
Confirm the following two lines have been added to the notes.ini file. If the two entries do not exist, please add the entries to the notes.ini file.
Note: By default, the notes.ini file is located in the C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes directory.
After installing PGP Desktop, the following file nPgpOvid.dll may be missing from the correct directory.
If the nPgpOvid.dll file is missing from in the correct directory, please copy the file to the correct location. The nPgpOvid.dll file should be in the same folder as the notes.ini file.
