When attempting to upgrade your operating system to Windows 7, you receive a (Soft block) message that you must uninstall PGP Desktop. This is a normal behavior and the Windows message is expected. This occurs in Windows XP and Vista when attempting to upgrade when your disk is encrypted. Windows displays this message to decrypt disks on the system as a general requirement prior to upgrading.
Windows displays (Soft block) messages to ensure compatibility with Windows 7 as part of the Windows 7 Compatibility Update. Click here for more information on Windows 7 program compatibility messages. PGP Desktop is included in the August 2009 Windows 7 Compatibility Update.
