When attempting to license PGP Command Line, you receive a licensing error similar to the following:
2716:number of CPUs not allowed with the current license
How do you determine how many processors (CPUs) are detected by PGP Command Line?
This error can occur if the number of processors exceeds the PGP Command Line license, PGP Command Line will display an error when authorizing the license.
PGP Command Line requires a valid license to support full functionality. PGP Command Line is licensed by the number of CPUs on the computer hardware. This includes physical processor count and the number of cores in multi-core processors.
To determine the number of processors (CPUs) detected by PGP Command Line
Open a command prompt.
Type pgp --version -v and press Enter. The command's output is displayed.
License information: State: Invalid Evaluation: No Expiration: Never Name: User Name Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Organization: Example.com License number: ABCDE-12345-ABCDE-12345-ABCDE-ABC Options: Encrypt/Sign enabled Options: Decrypt/Verify enabled Number of CPUs allowed: 1-16

The number of CPUs detected by PGP Command Line is displayed in the System information section of the output.
Licensing PGP Command Line 10.1.0
To license PGP Desktop, you must enter a Name, Organization, and License Number. For versions of PGP Desktop 10.1 and above, the license number for your software is obtained by logging into your Symantec Licensing Portal account and then authorizing the software using the following for the Name and Organization:
Name: Authorized User
Organization: Authorized Company
Note: All PGP Desktop products are authorized using the same Name and Organization. Contacting the PGP License Authorization Server is no longer required to authorize a PGP software license.
