Computer hangs when rebooting after encryption is started
After starting the initial encryption and shutting down the PC (EP Hard Disk power recovery has been enabled) the computer hangs during the reboot when attempting to load the Master Boot Record (MBR). The computer stops with this message displayed
"Verifying DMI Pool Data ........."
The very next line reads
"Starting EP Hard Disk 7.0... Please wait."
The cursor is on a blank line under this text.
This has occurred on an HP Deskpro BR10 BA600 that has a non-DOS 15MB partition FIRST (in front of the C: drive) that has no drive letter associated (hidden from the user under normal circumstances). This partition holds diagnostic software for the HP Brio PC similar to the way Compaq does it.
This has been fixed in Encryption Plus Hard Disk version 7.0.9 build 030.00.00.1 released on January 3, 2003.
The problem may be caused by the first part of the hard drive, which is partitioned as an OEM partition and has no drive letters associated with it. You must repartition this OEM diagnostic partition to be an NTFS or FAT partition associated with a drive letter.
It can also be caused by a Matrex video card.
