How to check the Service Connection Points for ADAM
If ADAM was previously installed and has been removed, an old Service Connection Point may still exist in Active Directory for the old ADAM instance. Attempting to install EA may fail because it is finding the old SCP, but receiving no response from ADAM. This problem can also occur if, for any reason, the SCP was not created during the install.
This information applies to EA Hard Disk 8.0.0 and newer.
Save this between the lines as CheckSCP.vbs and double-click it. What this will do is tell us what Service Connection Points exist on the server.
Dim objRecordSet: Set objRecordSet = objCommand.Execute
If objRecordSet.RecordCount = 0 Then
wscript.echo "No EncryptionAnywhere SCP found on GC query"
if objRecordSet.RecordCount > 1 then
wscript.echo "Warning: EncryptionAnywhere SCP Count:" & objRecordSet.RecordCount
For Each Record in objRecordset.Fields("serviceBindingInformation").Value
If InStr (Record,"ldap:") :389"
If is the name of the now defunct ADAM install, you will need to remove this SCP from Active Directory.
To remove this old SCP, you need to go to your domain controller into Active Directory > Active Directory Users and Computers. Make sure you go to View and that you have selected "Users Groups and Computers as containers" and "Advanced Features". In Active Directory, select the machine name for your old server and double click. In the window on the right, it should display the old Service Connection Point and you should be able to delete it.
