Slow response time when working in the Admin, Servers section of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) console, with each click resulting in a delay of several seconds or longer before the SEPM console begins to respond again.
The SEPM updates the information in the Admin, Servers section of the console every 5 seconds by default. In some environments this could cause a slow response when working in that area of the console.
The fix for this issue is to add the following line to the conf.properties file and restart the SEPM service.
NOTE: you may need to increase this number until response time reaches an acceptable level. This value adjusts the number of seconds the SEPM will wait before updating the Admin, Servers portion of the console. The suggested value of 60 given here will work well for most environments.
To implement this fix:
1.) In the file system of your SEPM server, navigate to \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc and create a backup of the conf.properties file. Then edit the original file using Notepad (or the text editor of your choosing).
2.) Add the following line of code to the bottom of the file, on a new line:
3.) Save and close the conf.properties file.
4.) Go to Start, Run, type in 'services.msc' and click OK. Then find the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service, right click on this service and issue a Restart command.
5.) Test and observe whether response time in the Admin, Servers section is now acceptable. If not, continue increasing the serversystemlogrefreshfreq value in increments of 5 seconds and re-testing until response time improves.
