Automation policies that send out emails, either don't work or the notifications are being received at random times and are not consistent.
Module: AtrsHost.exe Source: Altiris.PatchManagementCore.Tasks.Server.SerializingBaseSingletonServerTask`2.OnExecute Description: Another instance of Singleton Task is running
We found that the Qchain Download policy had been scheduled for every 1 minute which was overwhelming the task server. After resetting the schedule and rebooting the server the Qchain download webpage keeps filling with new Qchain download processes even after deleting them. The logs were full of "Another instance of Singleton Task is running".
Found that the scheduled tasks in task scheduler were all broke. They were set to a bad account. The weekly schedule was reconfigured for NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and ran. This reset the schedules but did not stop the flood of QChain download processes.
Deleting the current Qchain only caused more to show up. These had start dates going back a couple of months so it appears that these are queued up. Found in the TaskInstanceSummaries table a hit on nearly 55000 Download QChain entries. Clearing the existing Download QChain processes and rerunning the query against this table showed a decrementation in count by the number of processes we deleted.
The versionguid representing the Download Qchain processes was located in four tables in the database. This quid deleted from all 4 tables. The notification policies started working but the Download Qchain policy could not longer be opened.
Used the guid by table and column query to locate the tables that the '287817cb-...' guid was located in and deleted it out of the tables.
Ran the following commands in a cmd window from the program files\altiris\notification server\bin folder. Change the ? to the correct drive letter.
