Agents are not pointing to the Notification Server. The Altiris Server field in the Altiris Agent is blank. As well the Computer ID (GUID) is missing. The Notification Server agents are not communicating with the Notification Server.
This issue happened after trying to upgrade the Altiris Agent from 6.0.2338 to 6.0.2348, which is the Altiris Agent version after installing Altiris NS 6.0 SP3 Update(KB22690), via Pull installation.
Caused by changes made to the ActiveX controls in the named page. This was done as part of Altiris NS 6.0 SP3 Update(KB22690), or R1.
The core problem is the ASPX for this page: AltirisAgentDownload.ASPX. R1 replaced this file and it appears to be broken. The release notes for R1 or KB22690 indicates a change to the Altiris Agent to plug a vulnerability which may be why this file was replaced.
It should be noted here that the old ASPX file will no longer work either because it makes a call to something that was removed in R1. Rolling-back is currently not an option.
In order to solve this issue, it was necessary to follow multiple steps found on the following articles:
First, download a .zip file with two files that need to be replaced in the following locations:
Altiris.Web.NS.Agent.dll replaces the file found in <NS Install Dir>\Notification Server\Agent\Bin.
AltirisAgentDownload.js replaces the file found in <NS Install Dir>\Notification Server\Includes\.
Second, you will need to follow the instructions found in article 23942, "Altiris Agent Installer (pull installations) are not working with R1 installed." Basically here is suggested as a workaround is to remove the x from the .aspx extension, so the Pull installation page can look something like http://servername/altiris/ns/agent/AltirisAgentDownload.asp, so the AltirisAgentDownload.asp page can run the silent install of the Altiris Agent on a computer.
