When detection rules run on a machine that has Symantec Management Agent (SMA) 7.0.8705; this is version 18 of the Symantec Management Platform (SMP) 7.0 Service Pack (SP) 5 rollup, they do not work and instead record errors referencing the "AeXWiseRuleProvider.dll" file.
The 8705 build of the SMA is unfortunately missing the Invenotry Rule Agent's provider files for 32bit systems, so if this SMA is instaled clealy on 32bit systems any action requiring these rovider files will fail. Clean instals on 64bit platforms as well as upgrades on 32bit and 64bit machines are not affected by this issue.
This issue should be added in ITMS 7.0 MR5 which currently has a Q3 2011 release timeframe.
Upgrading to 7.0 MR4 also fixes this issue.
1. Extract the AeXStdRuleProvider, AeXStdRuleProvider2 & AeXWin32RuleProvider files from the attached "8690ProviderFiles.7z" file.
2. Copy these 3 files to the ".\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Inventory Rule Agent\" directory.
3. Register these 3 files by running "regsvr32 filepath\filename" in a command window.
Computers that have had the 8705 build of the SMA installed cleanly.
