An email alert notification is sent to the Administrator that one of the important processes on Messaging Gateway (SMG) has crashed unexpectedly or has exited with an unexpected status code.

SMG will automatically restart scanning and rule update processes in the event of an unexpected process crash. Usually this happens within seconds but the operating status of all SMG services should be verified from Status > Hosts > Software and Services. If the services are running and mail is processing properly, the occasional process crash can usually be ignored.

If this occurs several times in a short time frame, or if services fail to restart, please open a support case and create a diagnostics of the affected appliance to upload to the case.
