Due to error of "Cannot connect server", cannot log in SPC.
Last Updated June 22, 2011
The customers installed Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition(SEPSBE) SPC but they cannot log in.
The following error message pops up as below.
"Cannot connect server.
Please confirm that the server is started and the session is not time out.
When it connects server but you cannot log on, please confirm the parameter
In the case of network problem, please contact the system administrator."
Reinstallation did not solve the issue.
The customer installed PHP 5.3.6 to this system prior to installing SEPSBE(PHP 5.2.6). This PHP 5.3.6 installation added the path to it to SYSTEM's PATH environment variable.
This avoids the SEPSBE to load the correct php5ts.dll file which is located in SEPSBE installation folder, and this causes the crashes of httpd.exe.
The resolution for this issue is to isolate the httpd.exe process of SPC from other PHP installations listed in PATH system environment variable.
1. On Explorer, open PHP folder under Symantec Protection Center folder. Example: (default install path on Windows Server 2003) C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec protection Center\Php
2. Please copy php5ts.dll file under the PHP folder to the same Symantec Protection Center\apache\bin folder. Example: (default install path on Windows Server 2003) C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec protection Center\apache\bin
3. Restart Windows
