You want to know how to reconfigure your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to communicate with your SQL Server database after you upgrade your database to SQL Server 2008.
The following procedure applies to database upgrades to SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 SP1. It may not be applicable to SQL Server 2008 R2. Note that you do not need to disable replication, because you stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager services.
To reconfigure Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager after you upgrade to SQL Server 2008
Shut down all Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager services on all your management servers.
Upgrade your database to SQL Server 2008, and then to SQL Server 2008 SP1. For details about this step, see your SQL Server documentation.
Restart your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager servers. Your management servers now communicate with your database by using your existing SQL Server 2005 client.
To upgrade the SQL Server client, on your management server, start the Management Server Configuration Wizard. Accept all the default values in the first three panels, then enter the SQL Server authentication credentials in the fourth panel.
