Display of client status may be delayed in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console
Last Updated June 30, 2011
You are viewing status of Endpoint Protection clients in the Manager's Clients tab, and you see clients displaying a status that does not match their true state, i.e. displayed as "Offline" when you know they are in fact online. If you wait a minute and refresh the display, status may display correctly. If you look at Monitors tab->Computer Status->View Logs you'll see that online/offline status is reported instantly.
The Clients tab in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console has a much more granular definition of client status which includes online, offline, online remote, and offline remote. This involves queries for every displayed row and so is not particularly fast. When initially loading the page some information is stale and may require a refresh, after up to a minute's delay, to display correctly.
Monitors tab->Computer Status->View Logs uses a simpler, faster query.
For more accurate display of client status in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, use Monitors tab->Computer Status->View Logs.
Clients are listed offline in SEPM, but clients are indeed online. SEPM needs a minute to refresh or request policy update from client
