Enter a descriptive name for the rule in the Name textbox. For example: Block e-mails by attachment size.
Under the Apply rule to select your desired options for whether this rule applies to Inbound, Outbound, or Internal email or a combination of those three choices.
In the Message Part to Scan drop-down select Attachment Content.
In the Match Type dropdown select Wild Cards.
In the Content drop down select Contains.
You will need to specify the file extensions with a wildcard. For example: *.txt would apply to only files with the extension .txt. If you want to restrict all attachment types leave the content box blank. Click the checkbox Attachment size is and specify > with the attachment size restriction desired.
Note: There are two file type match lists available by default, the 'Sample Executable File Names' and 'Sample Multimedia File Names' lists. If you wish to include other file types in your policy, you will need to create your own custom match list containing the file type(s) you would like to be limited in size.
For details on how to create a custom Match list refer to the SMSMSE Implementation Guide found here: Documentation for SMSMSE.
