Enabled the setting 'Allow immediate reboot if required' on the Software Update Policy, but the client failed to reboot.

Configured the reboot schedule on the Software Update Policy > Allow immediate reboot if required.
Enabled 'Override Maintenance Windows' setting and the Client failed to reboot following the Software Update Cycle.
Altiris Agent GUI > Software Updates Tab displays: ‘Next Restart Due At: Next Maintenance Window’
This is functioning as designed. The Maintenance Window is the owner of the processes, so the Client can only reboot when the Maintenance Window opens, for the reboot settings aren't global and are specific to the Software Update Cycle. The Software Update Cycle is controlled by the Default Software Update Plug-in Policy.
Work through one of the following options to resolve this:
Enable the 'Override Maintenance Window' setting on the Default Software Update Plug-in Policy:
Caution: This will allow the Software Update Cycle to execute outside the Maintenance Window and install all scheduled status updates on the client at this scheduled time.
Alter the Maintenance Window schedule to be open during the time the Software Update Cycle will execute; allows for the client to run the Software Update Cycle on start of Maintenance Window, and then reboot while inside the Maintenance Window.
Advisory: Testing these settings before production roll out is best practice to verify desired behavior of the installation / reboot schedules.
