One or more Emails in the Sent Items of Outlook are modified by Symantec Mail Security for Exchange
Last Updated October 23, 2013
You have opened an Email in the Sent Items of Outlook, finding that a message was modified by Symantec Mail Security for Exchange (SMSMSE) with the message "Symantec Mail Security replaced Message Body with this text message". You would like to know if this is the expected behaviour of SMSMSE.
A Content Filtering policy is setup and enabled in SMSMSE to scan "Internal messages (store)" whilst the message being accessed in the Sent Items folder has violated this policy.
This is the expected behaviour of SMSMSE when the "Internal messages (store)" option is selected in the policy and the mailbox (where the Sent Items is being opened) resides on the same Exchange server where SMSMSE is installed. Emails from the sender will be scanned for violations by SMSMSE as they arrive to the Information Store of Exchange.
The mailbox being accessed in Outlook resides on the server where SMSMSE is installed.
