Outbound messages are not relaying through Symantec Messaging Gateway
Last Updated June 27, 2014
You have configured your mail server to send outbound messages to the Symantec Messaging Gateway for filtering before delivering them to the internet. The outgoing messages are not reaching the intended recipients. You want to know how to troubleshoot this particular issue.
No error message referenced.
Examination of message audit logs show no records of these messages as having been handled by the Symantec Messaging Gateway.
The cause is most likely a misconfiguration on the mail server. If the message audit logs contain no references for messages being handed to messaging gateway from the mail server, then it is highly probable that the messages were never sent to messaging gateway in the first place. The only other option is to run a packet capture and examine what, if any, data is being transmitted to the messaging gateway.
If you wish to run a packet capture to verify no messages are being handed to the messaging gateway from the mail server, please contact Symantec Technical Support for assistance with that operations.
Otherwise, you will want to examine you mail server, or any system in between Symantec Messaging Gateway and the mail server, for any possible misconfiguration that would cause the message to never reach Symantec Messaging Gateway.
