Enter your user name and password to log on to Symantec Reporting
Last Updated November 28, 2011
When you log on to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), a second logon screen opens within the Home tab and requests credentials again with the following text: "Enter your user name and password to log on to Symantec Reporting." This can occur after upgrading the SEPM from an 11.x build to 12.1.
Error 1: "Enter your user name and password to log on to Symantec Reporting" appears upon login the SEPM Console.
Error 2: "Your computer name contains one or more non-standard characters. You need to change your computer name first." This appears while running the Management Server Configuration Wizard, which will block the re-configuration and disable restoration..
This happens if there system name of the computer that runs the SEPM contains an underscore (_) or other non-standard characters. Such characters are incompatible with the DNS protocol and can cause problems with web sites that are addressed using them.
