Symantec Critical System Protection (SCSP) Console doesn't allow the clearing or editing of agent policies. Instead both "Edit Policy" and "Clear Policy" options are grayed out when the agent is right-clicked. Only "Apply Policy" is active.
If the asset folder is right-clicked all options are available, even though the policy wasn't applied to the folder.
This is by design. The "Edit Policy" and "Clear Policy" options are grayed out on an agent until a policy is assigned directly to it. Out of the box there are no detection policies assigned to an agent directly, therefore the options will be grayed out. This is also the case if the agent is getting the policy(s) from the group. Please apply a policy to the agent directly then recheck these options, they will no longer be grayed out.
1. Click the "Detection View" tab 2. Click the "Assets" tab in the left-hand pane of the console 3. Under "Asset Policies" right-click the folder that represents the OS of the agent you wish to withdraw the policy from and select "Clear Policy". 4. Select the policy you wish to clear.
Note: This work-around will remove this policy from the entire contents of that folder. This means that if you have multiple Solaris (for instance) agents, all Solaris agents will have this policy cleared.
