How does automatic location switching when using criteria "Management Server Connection" work
Last Updated August 25, 2011
After configuring a client group to use Automatic Location Switching (ALS) with the criteria "Management Server Connection" using the default location checking of 4 seconds, after preventing communication to the management server, it is observed that the client does not switch locations based on other criteria in your policy within the 4 second time period.
"Management Server Connection" criteria is tied to the sylink mechanism and will only switch on any failed attempt at communicating with he Management Server and not through the ALS check interval.
Auto Location Switching configuration setting of x number of seconds applies to all other location criteria except for the “Management Server Connection”. When using this option it is tied to the sylink mechanism and will only switch on any failed attempt at communicating with the Management Server through the Sylink/heartbeat mechanism and not through the ALS check interval. The ALS check interval applies only to the other criteria options and is checking the local client for any changes in the network configuration of the adapter(s).
