Symantec Messaging Gateway still resolves a user who has been deleted from the Directory as a valid recipient. A user has been deleted from the Directory such as the Active Directory or the Domino Directory but mails destined for this user are still showing this user as valid and the Recipient Validation Test Query still identifies the test email address as valid. As a result the Recipient Validation feature does not work for the specific user and does not get detected as an Invalid Recipient.
The reason for this strange behaviour is that the user still exists in the DDS cache.
The user can be removed from the DDS cache in the following way:
1. In the Control Center - Administration - Directory Integration - edit the Directory Data Source - go to Advanced - Cache Settings - Clear Cache - Save
2. In the Directory Data Source under Recipient Validation the Test email address should now appear as Invalid and the SMG should detect emails for the specific user correctly as Invalid
