Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install and Launch SIM. 2. Click on “Install New Products” and select ITMS to install. 3. Proceed till ITMS gets installed and launch Altiris Log Viewer. 4. When console gets launched successfully. 5. Close SIM. 6. Re-launch SIM and now check into Altiris Log Viewer for “Event ID 1035 Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Altiris Services Framework” and “Product Version: 7.1.6848.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Altiris. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0”.
Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: <Solution name, all Altiris-related> Product Version: <product version> Product Language: 1033. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.
Known Issue. The issue is reproducible. When SIM is launched, It calls 'SetInstalledProducts' method to find out the installed products to display in Installed Products view on SIM. Internally, this method is reading the property - 'PackageCode' using windows unmanged APIs MsiOpenProduct,MsiGetProperty and MsiCloseHandle. MsiCloseHandle method is causing the event - 'Windows Installer reconfigured the product'.
This issue has been reported to Symantec Development team. This issue has been fixed in our next release, SMP 7.1 SP2. The SIM version that will release with 7.1 SP2 will contain the fix.
Dev is now using GetInstallProductInformation method, which is already exist in code and is used at some places. This method is using MsiGetProductInfo API to read MSI properties.
