CCS provides PowerShell cmdlets to search assets and to remove assets. However, a simple tool is needed to search the Asset System for stale assets and remove them from CCS.
NOTE: A stale asset is an asset with the ‘whenChanged’ attribute not modified for a given period.
A CCS utility (PowerShell script) called RemoveStaleAssets.ps1 is now available. The utility accepts a stale period (in days) provided by a user and removes all the assets that are not modified in the given stale period.
Ensure that you have installed the following applications on your computer:
Symantec Control Compliance Suite (Reporting and Analytics) v10.5.1 Update
Windows Powershell v2.0
CCS PowerShell snap-in available with CCS v10.5.1 Update
Also ensure that
You have set Windows PowerShell execution policy to Unresticted using the Windows PowerShell command prompt.
You have the CCS Administrator permissions to use the utility (PowerShell script file).
NOTE: This utility uses Remove-Assets cmdlet to remove the assets. The Remove-Assets cmdlet removes the specified assets from CCS. It also deletes associated asset data either from the SQL store or from the CCS directory.
