KNOWN ISSUE: Symantec Installation Manager unable to find the product listing file
Last Updated December 09, 2011
If you extract an installation package to a non-default location, Symantec Installation Manager is not able to find the product listing file. The product listing file is not extracted to the location where Symantec Installation Manager looks for it. For example, if you extracted the installation package to drive E, Symantec Installation Manager looks for the product listing at E:\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris\symantec.pl.xnl.
To resolve this issue, have Symantec Installation Manager look for the product listing file at E:\Components\symantec.pl.xml.
Known issue. The issue was with the logic used to look for the PL file (so it will always attempt to load it from the directory where the files where extracted). If a PL file with the same name is already registered, then that PL is made active (and the local copy of the PL file is overwritten with the contents of the package PL file before starting SIM).
This issue has been resolved with the ITMS 7.1 SP2 release.
To resolve this issue prior to SMP 7.1 SP release, have Symantec Installation Manager look for the product listing file at E:\Components\symantec.pl.xml.
