Installing SEP 12.1 RU1 or later to a Macintosh running OS X 10.7, Lion or OS X 10.8, Mountain Lion, requires a Java Runtime Engine, which is not present by default on OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8.
Apple does not include a Java runtime environment in the base installation of 10.7. It is instead available as a separate download.
Customers running OS X 10.7 or later can download a Java Runtime Engine (JRE) from Apple Software Update, or from Apple.com.
Note: If the Java runtime environment is installed, Java Preferences will be present in /Applications/Utilities/
Note: LiveUpdate for Macintosh requires the JRE provided by Apple to function properly. If the JRE from Oracle is installed to the Macintosh client, LiveUpdate for Macintosh may not operate properly and the Apple-provided JRE will also need to be installed alongside the Oracle version.
