BUG REPORT: Logging into PGP Universal Admin Interface Takes an Extremely Long Time or Times Out
Last Updated May 08, 2013
Log into PGP Universal Server Admin interface takes an extremely long time and then times out. Administrator is redirected to the login page with a generic error.
An unexpected error has occurred. Please check the logs for details.
In the Administration logs on the server, an exception error is displayed.
Design issue where login causes multiple SQL queries as well as several database maintenance tasks that were running to often in the database causing slowness in the database when running long and complex queries.
This issue is fixed in the following release:
PGP Universal Server 3.2.0
PGP Universal Server 3.1.2 SP3 (with workaround details below)
This version/Maintenance Pack is available for download via your account on Symantec File Connect. fileconnect.symantec.com
If you are using version 3.1.2 SP3 please contact Technical Support for a workaround which can be applied until you are able to upgrade.
Note: Some additional issues have been reported by a few customers related to slow logging into PGP Universal Server after upgrading to PGP Universal 3.2.0 or later. There is an additional hidden preference that Technical Support can add to the server through command line to disable login failure alerts with PGP Whole Disk Encryption. Please contact Technical Support and reference this KB article number for assistance.
