Verifying the Additional Decryption Key (ADK) or Organization Key Passphrase
Last Updated September 05, 2012
This article details how to verify the correct passphrase of an Additional Decryption Key (ADK) or Organization Key of PGP Universal Server. It is important to verify the passphrase in cases where you are going to update the server, and you need to use for example the Organization key to restore the backup.
Use the following steps to verify the key:
Export the key from PGP Universal Server.
Import the key to PGP Desktop.
Use the key to sign something and it will prompt you for the passphrase.
You can then verify if you have the correct passphrase for the key.
You can also verify your Organization Key's passphrase by downloading a backup of the PGP Universal Server to a computer with the Organization Key and attempt to decrypt the backup file. If you provide the correct passphrase, the backup file will start to decrypt.
