On certain Windows systems, an error message may be displayed after installing Symantec PGP Desktop 10.2.
The PGP memory locking facility is not functioning correctly.
This is a known issue and is fixed in PGP Desktop 10.2 MP4
Please install 10.2 MP4 to resolve this issue.
If running 10.2 MP4 is not possible, another workaround exists until you can install 10.2 MP4 that will prevent the error:
As a workaround on existing machines that may exhibit this behavior, the following registry setting can be changed, which is known to resolve the issue until the next release is made available.
On an affected system run regedit as Administrator.
***Please ensure proper registry backups have been made prior to making this change as incorrect changes to the Windows registry could result in an unbootable system, or possible data loss.
Go to the following registry key:
2. On the right pane of PGPsdkDriver, there is a DWORD entry named "Start" with a value of '2', double-click on the value and change the value to '1'.
3. Close regedit and reboot the computer.
This change should fix the issue going forward, however it will be rolled into the upcoming release and the registry setting will not be necessary with the new version.
Since the PGP Desktop 10.2 MP4 build resolves this issue, it is recommended to upgrade rather than go through the workaround via the PGP Registry.
