This specific error can be seen in SEP clients that retrieve their updates from Interent source servers as well as internal LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x (LUA 2.x) servers.
A further issue has been identified with the manner in which LUE decompresses and applies its definitions. A forthcoming change (different version of 7zip) the contiguous memory consumption for decompressing definitions will be reduced to around 20 megabytes, and enable SEP 12.1 to decompress the definitions and update successfully.
Until this new release of SEP 12.1 is available, please recommend that affected SEP clients be brought up to date by enabling Third Party Management (TPM) and dropping a current .jdb onto them.
How to manually update definitions for a managed Symantec Endpoint Protection Client using the .jdb file
Another workaround is to reinstall the SEP client on this computer, preferably with the latest release of SEP 12.1 exported from the SEPM with current definitions. One more is to reboot the affected computer and immediately running LiveUpdate (this LU session should then occur when contiguous space is at its maximum).
