The PGP Tray does not start when a user logs into Windows. PGP Tray must be running in order for any encryption or decryption operations to be successful. PGP Tray must be running for Encryption Desktop to be able to communicate with Encryption Management Server.

The PGPtray.exe shortcut is missing. This shortcut starts PGP Tray when a user logs into Windows.
The default installation of Symantec Encryption Desktop creates a shortcut called PGPtray.exe in the Startup folder. Note that this file is a shortcut, despite its name.
If this shortcut does not exist after installing the product on a supported platform, uninstall Encryption Desktop then install it again using local administrator permissions, since other components may have also failed to install properly. If this fails to install the shortcut, please contact Symantec Support.
The PGPtray.exe shortcut has been deleted, either by accident or design. In this situation, create a shortcut to the PGPtray.exe executable in the Startup folder:
Open file Explorer and navigate to the folder containing PGPtray.exe. The PGPtray.exe executable file is located in these locations depending whether 32-bit or 64-bit Windows is being used:
