Issue/Introduction

Symantec Control Compliance Suite (CCS) Web dashboards show "no data found" after running "Reporting Database Synchronization" job.

To get to this point the following are most likely the preceding events:

  • Perform a Collection-Evaluation-Reporting (CER) job against few standards and see the compliance score against each of the standards in the Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel.
  • Modify one of the checks, say C1, from one of the standards, say S1, that you were previously able to see in the Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel.
  • Run Global Report Synchronization job from CCS Console.
  • Refresh the page displaying Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel.
  • The standard S1 of which one of the checks (C1) was modified is no longer displayed in the Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel.

no data found

Cause

When a  check in any standard is modified, the Check, its Section and its Standard are all given new version numbers. The Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel displays compliance for current version of standard and since the standard version changes because of check modification,  the compliance status for current  version of standard is unknown until an new assessment is performed.

Resolution

A new run of the Collection-Evaluation-Reporting (CER) job is required to collect, evaluate and sync data specific to the current version of the standard. The standard will now again appear in Standard Compliance Management dynamic dashboard panel and no longer show a "no data found" message.

Troubleshooting

Avoid making changes to your Standards (including checks and sections) during your audit / compliance cycles.

If the situation is unavoidable ensure that you run the CER job immediately after changing the standard. This will ensure that compliance score is available for current version of standard.

If want to verify whether evaluation has been performed against current version of standard

  • Go to the “Standard Management View” in “CCS Console”; Select the standard for which you want to verify this.
  • In the “General” tab of preview pane check the value against “Version” property – this value indicates the current standard version.
  • Then go to the “Evaluations” tab of preview pane and check for the presence of current standard version under “Standard Version” column.
  • If current standard version is available in the “Standard Version” column, it indicates that evaluation has been performed against current version of standard.
  • If current standard version is not available in the “Standard Version” column, it indicates that evaluation has not been performed against current version of standard.
