Control Compliance Suite bv-Control Agent daemon doesn't start up at boot on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server systems. Various versions and service packs of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and 11 are affected and the issue seems random.
During the install of the agent, the installation package creates sym links for starting up the agent at boot time - on some SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and 11 installations this does not work as expected.
The following script will correct the problem and is most likely the quickest way in resolving the issue. Run this script on the affected SLES systems for immediate relief.
if [ -f /etc/SuSE-release ] ; then chkconfig bvcontrold off; chkconfig -s bvcontrold 235; fi
