Files named pgpxxxxxx (where the x is a random alfa-numeric characters) are being created on the root of the system. These files seem to be created during PGP Desktop policy updates, however they are not log files and don’t appear to have any readable information in the file.
This issue affects Mac OS X clients only and has been seen in PGP Desktop as far back as 10.1.1. This issue was fixed in version 10.2.1, however some customers are still affected by this issue.
Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. This issue is currently being considered by Symantec Corporation to be addressed in a forthcoming version or Maintenance Pack of the product.
