Issue/Introduction

In the SMSMSE Administration Console (Home Tab), the virus definitions date or older than one or two days.

Environment

SMSMSE 7.10

Cause

The most common reasons that the virus definitions are out of date are:

1.  The LiveUpdate servers cannot be reached because or Firewall or Proxy setting issues

2.  With SMSMSE 7.10 hotfix/patch has not been installed that fixes proxy settings being ignored.

3.  SMSMSE did not register correctly with LiveUpdate server

When the user's AppData setting are incorrect, errors are found when installing SMSMSE or registering with LiveUpdate. LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA)  server will also report errors.

4.  Errors found in Log.LiveUpdate.

Resolution

1.  Upgrade to 7.10 and verify hotfix/patch is installed if a proxy is used.

Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 7.10 LiveUpdate does not use proxy or customized server information and reverts to default settings.

2. Inspect Log.LiveUpdate log

Virus Definitions are not Updating and LiveUpdate Reports Error Message "HOST_SELECTION_ERROR: Error: 0x802A0027"
